Here's the seat. The 4 bolts holding the bracket move but don't loosen. I was planning on removing them and soaking in vinegar after a good scrub.

Unsure how this would attach to the frame? It doesn't look like the single seat in the police bike above. Wondering if it might be off something else?

I still need:
the swingarm with shaft,
the diode board...(might have one somewhere-nope, no spare.)
Handlebars, brake and clutch lever assemblies. Something like LS or K75S bars would be great.
Switchgear, though I do have some stuff which I'll need to inspect very closely.
Some relays. Have some but will need to check they're correct.
Ignition switch and key.
Rear brake master cylinder and reservoir.

To put the engine back together...The oil pump is shot so need one.
Conrod bolts x 4, bearings-red bearing for the alternator end, blue for the flywheel end, as measured by a pro.
Gaskets: all of them.
Camchain. (prob ok, but I'm in there)

Clutch bolts/washers x 6

I have a sidestand & centre stand from a 81 RS but this is a 78 frame.

Most of the engine/camchain parts have all been ordered from Motorworks. That'll be 3 days to Oz, then 2 weeks to me. OzPost is a bit diabolical at the moment.

Thanks Jeff. I'd forgotten about that! Was just looking at Gummikuhs site for the same thing! Prob ~ $300 posted for a swingarm and shaft...needs paint.

I still have the original drive shaft that I swapped out for your shaft that I rebuilt, but because it also has had the uni changed I'm reluctant to send it to you, just because.........er...it was done by me. Mind you, it feels perfectly good but there's a liability on my part.
I'll post the swing arm to you.

Thanks Jeff. I may have a line on the odd bits at the fd end of the shaft.

Any idea how much a swingarm/drive combo might be worth, used, usable?

Lockdown is over here. 10 double donut days in a row. (0 new cases, 0 deaths) Great stuff.

Since the trans disaster, this task is now on the backburner.

I need to get a couple of small welds done on the frame then I'll paint it.

Well, back to this again. A few things have been done. The brackets for the mufflers had that usual crack. Got it welded. Also had some weld done where the centre stand rests. Then...

Image

I cleaned the mainframe using electrolysis. Seemed to work well. I made a frame for a tarp, like a pool, filled it with water and set it up.
Image

Stripped a load of junk off the frame.

Rinsed it, washed and dried it and painted 2 coats of a rust converter type rattle can as the undercoat. Then followed up with 3-4 light coats of satin black. It's been hanging outside (out of the weather) curing for 6 weeks so far. Next I'll do the same to the subframe. I found an inexpensive tub that it'll fit into for the process. Will need to cut 4 lengths of a metal post and connect with copper to get the system more flexible than the previous effort with the mainframe.

Collection of parts is ongoing. After the tank above, I also scored a headlight and some headlight brackets. The brackets are solid but will need a tidy up. Have a line on brake and trans levers and footpegs today too.

Also scored a set of keyless seatbelt latch Krausers in good condition, along with the correct Krauser frames for a grand total of $35. Bonus. :D

Anyhow, a work in progress. Too cold and wet here now for any painting and the gearbox still needs to come out of the JPS for a good look. It's a second hand one, works well, but I'd like to check inside and at least add new detente springs before it gets too far from home.

I have sourced a shaft too...just need to get it. Our last lockdown stifled that then I forgot!

Well, a change is in the air, err the shed. I've bought a 1994 R1100gs that's likely usable once it goes thru the usual statutory requirements. It'll be eligible for club plates once that's done. That means $78 annual rego verses ~ $OZ700 annual fee.

So, I'll move some of these parts along now.

I'll put them up on the https://www.facebook.com/groups/3018300718285068 Oz airheads fb parts exchange page.

The R100RS isn't going anywhere and some spares that suit that will stay in my shed ;)
