I found this place after I quit spending $40 a year with BMWMOA to hear about the brand known as BMW and too much focus on new bikes. To me, that was SPAM. The Airhead Beemer Club has no forum. I like this place and look forward to meeting some of the folks here at the Boxerworks Forum rally in May.

I guess the biggest challenge for a new member is to be able to contribute without the fear of being ridiculed. The fundamental reason for joining is to learn more from experienced guys like yourselves, and to enjoy the camaraderie of likeminded boxheads.

There needs to be a balance between satisfying Chuey’s needs of edgy dialogue and encouraging more members to take the next step of entering into meaningful discussion.

BTW. I like the edgy stuff as long as personal attacks are kept out.

That goes for me as well. I was worried that my post would be taken to say that I thought the worst was what I liked. I didn't like the worst stuff we had here, not at all. I did like the discussions when they would get more involved and complex. That can happen without it getting bad. I tried to make my post reflect this from the beginning.

For the most part, I dropped off the Boxerworks grid a couple of years back. The forum became tainted by a small group, similar to neighborhood bullies of our youth, who felt it was their job to control every discussion. I used to spend a lot of time here and truly enjoyed the camaraderie but it's just a different place now. I still really enjoy the people here for the most part but I've had to change my outlook a little bit. I used to say that anyone who rode an old BMW was a friend of mine but nowadays I'd probably ask a guy for his Boxerworks handle first.

I think everyone enjoys forums when they are a place when they all share a common idea. However from time to time people come along and upset the general harmony of the group. They can be ,opinionated, selfcentred, and antaganistic. But what we all must remember that these sites a called forums, and forums are places to discuss and sometimes dissagree on the topic of conversation. It shouldnt be a place where the same ideas, opinions and perspectives, by everyone, is a given. It should however never be dirogative, slanderous, or belittling.
Just my thoughts on Forums.

I first came here to learn about my new R75/5 and how to fix this or that a few years ago. I also read sites that some of the members here had on the old bikes. Lots of good info!

Then leisure time seemed less and less, even though it was for learning. So I faded out.

I have returned because I knew this was a darn good place to ask a few more questions. I might just have to stick around for a while and learn another thing or two or three!

This forum is the product of one man (and a heap of help from the Web Mistress)

The head was beat to death, both valves heads broke off, the piston has a golf ball size hole and the cylinder is scored. It looked very much like the damage the Veg's Bat Bike suffered.

I have purchased a set of nice heads, one "B" piston and cylinder off of E-Bay. I need to check the rod to for straightness, then put it back together.

Having been on this board from almost day one, back when Nathan was still answering question I can say there are some of
the best people in the world on this board.

I need to thank Matt for keeping the board going, and Ken and Randy for hosting the rallies where I have met many of you.

To the newer members there is some great advice to be had here, I would have given up on my old R100/7 without the help i received.
