Yep ,I have a lathe and I might buy another one of the cute little things from Munich Spares for IIRC $27 Oz .Not $9.42 US .If I make few I'll keep them in the bottom of my panniers .
Where do I buy them for US$9.42 ?

Yes, that could work. A pellet of soft brass can work too, but you don't want the bolt directly on the throttle. The advantage of the plastic or brass piece residing in a hollow in the end of the bolt is that it is far less likely to jam.

part # 32721230874 LOCKING BOLT $9.42
or, you can buy the plastic plug that BMW sells for that hole.
part #32721236605 PLUG $0.53
I don't know about better. I should have mentioned that his is the aftermarket lever lock kind where you flip a lever to engage and disengage it. You screw the assembly in and out to adjust the tension.
I have the original version on my RT and I like it, though I'm not a frequent user. I have the BMW OEM type on other bikes and don't use them much either.

Think there are 2 different "lenghths" of the throttle stop screws ....older models vs newer models...don't know models or dates...read that somewhere, maybe Duane's site or snowbum's...
Perhaps this will f*** up your plans so ignore it....cheers

If the thread really is 8 x 0.75 mm that is a non preferred thread size in Oz , so good luck in finding one.
Probably a Volvo wrecker is the best shot - the frog V6 that they fitted in some of their bricks had all sort of weird fine threads on it.They usually break when you try and unscrew them, but you might be lucky.
I have one of these flip a lever adjusting screws somewhere if you want it - it has the nylon tip but it isnt spring loaded, so if you have any sort of wear on the twist grip you simply cant adjust it to act as a friction screw - it either locks on or it dont touch.
If you have a lathe you could probably deepen the hole and get a spring in behind.
PM me if you want to try.

This seems like an awful lot of bother when the real thing is listed by Motobins for 6.50GPB and Maxbmw for $9.42
