Lets stop and think for a minute. The Royal Enfield was made in England. That is the country famous for vehicles that just didn't work. Now, take it to India and manufacture it there. Is this going to be an improvement?
If one takes a lot of Hopium, maybe it looks like a good deal.
I am all in favor of diesel motorcycles and hope that more get involved and we get some good products.
India produces the best engineers in todays world. Now, tell me what else they produce that works well.
The only thing that comes to my mind is food. Love that Indian food. OK, what else? Cars?

Jaguar is Indian owned. Only one way for the quality to go there.
Force India is in 6th place in F1 and not far behind the once dominant Renault works team.

Ah Duane , you have a world of education ahead of you ... visit India, you will be amazed
.India doesn't export much of anything .It has a huge internal economy and seems quite happy that way .

I do lots of world travel, but India won't be on the list. I enjoy the food and have many Indian friends. There is a reason that they are here. I will respect it and believe what they tell me about India. I avoid places with great poverty, as I cry too easily.
I might go in another 50 years when things should be far better. Oh, yes, I am now 70. Maybe not.

It's the world's largest democracy with an amazing mix of cultures. That seems a point in favour ....poverty, certainly but there is far worse in other countries .Personally an Enfield trip up into the foothills of the Himalayas would be a wonderful thing to experience.
When it comes to what they produce ...I think Tata Industries could probably buy GM these days .

Buy GM? I could probably buy GM out of my pocket change.
I have a good friend that rides a BMW and she took that tour in India on an Enfield. The thing broke down just about every day. The factory sent along a very good mechanic and spare parts to support the bikes. He was very busy indeed. She met the factory president and told him flat out that they had to do something to fix the bikes to be reliable. His attitude was that it was made in India and is selling as it is. Nice.
She had a good time, but the transportation aspect was a disaster.

Yep ,I've owned one and that's about right although a bit exaggerated .The Himalayan trip would be about as good as it could be . For me the Enfields would just add to the experience. Fun!
