2 Million Mile BMW Ladies...

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

I'm trying to work out the mileage variation on the way home Ed, does it depend on how much you've had to drink after work?

I could see getting lost on the way home! No, just how energetic I feel. I get off of the bus early and take longer rides home, for variety and to make the basic 9 miles each way feel easy. Yesterday I went this way:

as I knew I was taking today off to split firewood and to have a 4 day weekend. I was very tired last night.

Boy Howdy! I do sense that my post inspired some to think I was criticizing the high mileage women. I did say that I can't relate to riding for the sake of riding and that would include the goal of racking up huge miles for the sake of hitting mileage goals. I said nothing about other people doing that. Anything that was read between the lines and responded to would have been the thoughts of the writer, perhaps inspired by, but not responding to my post, as I said nothing negative about the subjects of the original post.

No need to defend or explain on their behalf. And if it so be, I am a pussy. Big deal. My highest mileage day is 850 done in the summer on a stock handlebar RS. If I had a little higher bar, I'm pretty sure I could easily hit a thou. but I could only do it on the way somewhere.

I was not trying to belittle the mileage women.

Perhaps you didn't read closely. I said you were a pussy, as all of us here are. THEY are men.

Perhaps you missed it sometime in the brsdhmechljisl years you've been alive, but it has been a rather common measure of "men" that they accomplish extreme things, for the sheer joy of accomplishing them. Rational reasonable people are: pussies.

Thus these two women are truly men, and we are all pussies.

I must disagree Major.
Those ladies would also disagree if they read your post.

They are courageous women. Simple.

We're still pussies tho.

I wrote what I meant (finally) and it does not disagree with what you wrote. I do, however agree that they are women, and not even metaphorically, men.

A sad situation when the accomplishments of a PERSON
will be devalued with attempts to deny that PERSON ownership of the ability to perform,
based upon nothing more than a misinformed and biased mental picture
and the intention, expressed or implied, to demean –
In this case, "they are men"
ASSumes that a woman must be incapable of the accomplishment.

What CRAP is that ?

more sexual stereotyping ...

Post by vanzen »

Even the title of this post is entirely patronizing – "Ladies" ?
Will this archaic boy's club simply disregard at least 60 years of social / sexual / human evolution ?

Yes, I suppose that this will be the path of least resistance for any male unable to think for himself
or have the inability to interact with a "woman" ...
and therefor in the absence of all that
be willing to accept without question the prevalent social / advertising stereotypical hype –

But it truly SUCKS to witness individuals who's cache of knowledge and experience in today's world
might best be described by the profit motivated dictates of an aberrant media,
a thwarted social-development anachronism,
or, if respectfully is even in order, the simple term: retrograde ...

A BMW high miler responds:

Men? hah!

Ardys and Voni are merely REAL women. Unbound by the fragile flowers that many men in their adoration heap upon us. REAL women do whatever they want... explore, learn, have adventures and express themselves in any manner they see fit, but rarely, if ever, copying or ascribing to the character and areas that men in general hold as their manly their personal domain.

I have been told in the past after one escapade or another... "you certainly have a set of brass balls". I regularly deferred... wondering why I would need/want a set?

One time in Grand Junction, CO I was at a dealers and having been told that in order to fix my bike they would have to order a starter for the old K100RS, I decided to bump start the thing when necessary and deal with it when I get to the east coast the following day. An older guy who overheard our discussion came by and told me as I was suiting up to leave that, "he would head into the jungle with me any day", I must have looked at him strangely because he then explained:

Being an old soldier he was aware that in combat his life might depend completely on the tenacity, strength, wit and perseverance of his partner, especially in the jungle where anything could happen. A wise man chose his partner carefully if he hoped to get out alive.

I was honored, and embarrassed but determined live up to his belief in me.

I have done nothing like Ardys and Voni... only a bit more than half as many miles... but that is them and this is me. The compliment that gentleman gave me years ago was the very best award/honor that I could ever have hoped for.

But hey, I'm just a girl... and I *have* a pussy and you don't... no matter how much you wish you did... nanner nanner boo boo! :-)
