It sounds an awful lot like you're describing a plunger tank.

It was some of the customer/chopper oil tanks that got me thinking about an under seat tank. Plus BMW do this with their 650 singles. ;)
I doubt that they were gravity feed. Prolly had a fool pump.

Gravity feed from a standard tank can be problematic under heavy load conditions and I wouldn't want to reduce it even more.

Of course if it is a cruiser, it isn't for riding, but for looks.

There are a few jobs on ADV worth looking at too.

Sibbo all you need is a rounded ended wooden mallet and a block of wood that has had a dome shape ground into it. I used to beat 18 gauge stainless steel into a curved shape with these tools.

Yes. The 650 he's talking about is injected, so it must have a fuel pump. Also, it's a vertical single, so the intake is much higher than on a boxer.

The 800 has the tank in the same place. That's the fuel filler below the edge of the seat. I don't know what's in the standard "tank" location other than airbox.

Started work on the seat base. Keepng with the "Industrial" look to the build. Either like it is the photos below or cut and welded to make the front more tapered. It will have a small aluminium base put onto this as well. This will have a small leather pad attached to it. I intend that you will be able to still see some of the grating when you look down at the seat pad. Grating will be either painted black or will be roughed up and allowed to rust and dull a bit then a clear coat over that to retain the forced aging looking.

Thinking a curved cross bar between the two rear down tubes and a single seat shockie mounted off this for the seat to have movement and springing.

Rear sub frame was put back on just to allow the seat base to have something to sit on.

"Dingo" from another forum I post on....]2 seperate pipe style tanks similar to this.Just bigger.

"Cricky" again from a different forum I post on ....].

If you like the 'twin tube' thing (and I do) you could quite easily mount your headlights inside the front ends of those tubes with the speedo Frenched into a top single tube to cover the electrics...

Just a thought...
Both of the above is how I in-vision this building heading towards.
