We're not sure what a "501" is. TELL.
I think the first aid kits were required in Germany...and if you happened to get a seat with a compartment on a US delivery bike, it was because that's what they had at the moment.
By now we should ALL be aware of this production practice.

Sorry...a wee bit obscure that one I s'pose. The 501 is the "silber" colour code (sticker under the seat)for the first R100RS. The seat was the same colour as the rest of the bike, but it wasn't clear coated. So, IF the stash compartment was introduced at some stage it wasn't then.

Hello Duane,
I have one of those seats on my R100S.
It has a slight blue tint to the leather and under your 'balls' is the compartment.
I believe it is a rare-ish seat these days that Denfield made. Some people have commented on it being rare and offered to buy it from me... to which I declined.
I can snap photos of it if you'd like.
An extra compartment helps!

That's what it's shown being used for in the "Auxiliary Catalogue"...but it's a good place to keep emergency cash too.
