I checked Michelin and even the UK site doesn't give recommended pressures. Metzler, Continental and from memory Pirelli do and they all give 2.1bar front and 2.3 bar rear.

That's 31.45 psi front and 33.35 psi rear...

Just checked Bridgestone BT45's on the UK site and pressures given are a fair bit higher at 2.5 bar front 2.8 bar rear. That's 36.25 and 40.6 psi

Do they list the Bridgestone Spitfires?

Dang! I don't have a tire specialist. And somehow I'd be reluctant to take the word of the dude who changes tires in the service department of any modern motorcycle dealer.

Now I can well imagine there are lots of tire specialists on various racing teams. A pound or two of pressure can make all the difference in handling and traction. But I have to question how good a racing tire specialist might be on tire pressures for commuters, tourers, dual sport riders, and bar hopping poseurs.

There is one guy whose answer I would trust for any motorcycling application: Kevin Cameron. But he quit returning my calls.

I know S11 Spitfires are well thought of and well priced so I've looked for them in the past but they have just never existed in the UK. Even looked at the tread pattern to see if they are marked under a different name. Checked again now and they are not in the Bridgestone range for the UK or in Europe.

Yeah, I noticed they weren't listed on Bridgestone's website. What's up with that, I wonder?

Where does the "Modern tyres seem to require higher pressures" info come from? I've heard it before, but can't find an official recommendation. Is it just another urban myth? I've used OEM recommended pressures on my BMWs and Triumph for years, now with the Michelin Pilot Activ with no issues.
