I can see why you think that. That was great to watch.

Those Blitz videos reminded me of this French docu full of /2 bikes and sidecar rigs heading to the Rallye des Elefants-

Should be more geezer-friendly, although it's not in English.

Old will come fast enough.
Ride motorcycles to lessen the onset.

Wow. Great find. I'll be watching this one over and over as well. Thanks Godot! That 80 something yr-old dude shames me.

Wow---riding motorcycles and sidecars in serious snow. I'm either more of a wuss than I thought, or, over time, the species has gotten a bit smarter in this one narrow respect. Or both.

I will take a sidecar rig out in the snow any day. Great fun.
Two wheels? Not so much.

So I showed the Elephant ralley vid to my coworker, who's fluent in French. Some of the highlights of her translation (not in chronological order):

True motorcyclists ride in any weather. The 1970 Elephant ralley in this documentary was held the 1st weekend of January. The temp at Nürburgring that year was -10C! The old dude is 80. Judging by his accent, he's from the country--not Paris, but he rode the whole way from Paris, approx. 800 km. His wife of 50 years is 70 and comes along on some rides (including one Elephant I think), but she couldn't come this year because of some arm problems. He laments the 'cheating' he's been noticing at the Elephant lately: people riding in, but staying in hotels--not camping as it should be. He said the Rallly was named Elephant because the Beemers that people rode at the time (I'm assuming post WWII surplus R12s and R75s?) were nicknamed Elephants. Many riders are women, who bring their men along, but some men just stay home, and those women come on their own.

The old dude has been riding since 1912, and just loves to tinker with bikes. He explains that for many motorcyclists, we are incomplete w/o our motorcycles. When asked about the dangers of motorcycling, he says it;s the cars that are dangerous to us.

In otherwords, this dude's a stud, and motorcycling is in his bones and practically his raison d'être. He ends, about motorcycling "don't get me started."
