That certainly taxes the 13hp available. Rides are a mix of love and hate. I love that I can keep up and usually ahead of average traffic while getting 37 to 39 kilometers to a liter of regular petrol. I hate when I'm at the bottom of a long hill and that car I was about to pass just drives off into the distance only to hold me up in the next set of curves.

And that last comment leads to the real cause of my accident. I try and make up for the lack of power by not slowing enough for the corners. I have had a feeling of impending doom for the last few weeks as I found myself out pacing the sane internal speed limits that one sets for ones self. I had been considering other bikes that I could somehow ride more slowly but yet have the same amount of fun, be as economical and as easy to live with as the wee Honda.

I now have an answer, anything is more fun than a broken collar bone.

Yeah, I've got the same thing going on with the Kombi. Muriel starts with a hand gesture, moves on to "Slow Down" and eventually gets to "Slow Down, Asshole!"

And then we come to a hill, and the same Buick goes by, only to nail the brakes at the top of the hill and the end of the passing lane.......

Garnet, it's bad to hear you went down. Sorry that happened to you. If you think about it, it was your inner "young man" that was making you go hot into the corner. While you'd rather not have crashed, you can think of it as a sign you're not ready for the ol' rocking chair just yet. Heal well.

I did break my right Clavicle (collar bone) and my arm will be in a sling for a couple of weeks at least. It is not all that painful, which is why it took a couple of days to diagnose.

"She who must be obeyed" is not impressed, and is questioning my future on two wheels. That too will pass.

What nonsense, if my wife was "questioning my future on two wheels" I'd be questioning our future together. If she said "it's me or the bike", me and the GS would be packing our crap up and hitting the road.

It's easy to talk tough while I'm at work.

Hope she doesn't read this!!!

Luckily she loves the GS almost as much as I do. But if I crashed things might change.

I've only had two real crashes: the death of my Z1 back around 1980 (guy came around blind corner on wrong side of road), and when the Duc died trying to kill me much more recently. The Z1 was during my practice marriage. The first wife absolutely could not understand how I could get on a motorcycle after the crash: as though the entire time I'd ridden up till then I (or she) never imagined it could happen.

Current wife has a very different attitude. After the Duc tried to kill me, she decided I should probably never have another Duc.

It was on Prospect Lake Rd, which is a favorite of mine. I normally ride it the other direction, as it starts tight and opens up as you go. This is a view of the entrance to the right hander that got me. What it doesn't really show is how sharply downhill the road goes just at the apex. 20kmh slower was in order.

I lived on Prospect Lk Rd for 10 years. It has a lot tricks and turns. Take it easy.
