An excellent idea Rob. If he's willing he would be an excellent custodian. I recall a handful of years ago, when Boxerworks had seen a major shutdown, Stephen had even put the then software on his site and had done some trial runs in case Boxerworks was terminal.

Well, I got into the starter a bit and was able to quickly diagnose that the relay was the culprit. (Thank GOD, I didn't want to get into that start switch!)
I yanked the relay itself, opened it, then measured the coil impedance, which was reasonable (200-ish Ohms).
I then went ahead and grabbed a 470 Ohm resistor and a UF4007 diode and did the bias conversion on the starter transistor.
I'm happy to report that my starter woes are now resolved!
Pure voodoo. We need to keep this one around so we can solve electrical problems without the chicken bones and wax dolls.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.
Man, I thought I would get away with just recovering the stock seat, but when I pulled it apart to recover, things look pretty bleak. New foam is $$$$. Do you guys think it is worthwhile to get the absolute correct color of BMW paint, or go to the powder coating shop and have them put the most durable semi-gloss black on that they have?
Since your seat is not a stock seat, but one from possibly a HD you will need custom contoured foam. I would check any upholstery supply shops or fabric stores that sell upholstery supplies for foam. Another source for the base, first layer against the metal is packaging companies (CalveyPackaging)that make special inserts for boxes. They make a high density foam type material that is durable, easy to sculpt in the shape you want, then I would cover that with foam and batting material before I cover it.
As far as paint, Color Rite makes paint in the correct colors for most makes of motorcycles. I believe the color name is Avus Black, available in spray can, or bulk, really expensive in spray can.
If your existing foam has not totally disintegrated you can breath new life in foam by steaming it with a sewing steamer, gets that old brown dried out foam looking nice and plump and soft again.

Ah, I forgot to mention, I pulled the solo seat and am going back to the stock bench seat. The solo seat is actually in decent shape - I should put it up for sale in the swap meet section. (If it was indeed made for a HD, it needs to be off my property ASAP)
