Thats why I carry enough wine and meds to make it through the night. The list of things that might break on my traveling bike would require a semi to carry the spare parts. The more we get into this, the more I want to go buy that 800 GT

My new parts came in and I spent most of the day getting them installed. Gutting the bean can and replacing the stuff was straight forward enough, except that nothing quite fit. I had to lightly sand all the way around the new Stator to get it into the can. I had to maul the old mount for the spark advance to allow the new rotor to sit down. I had to sand the pick-ups a little and finally I had to sand some over-tall solders on the stator to keep things from interfering. Its real tight and I am not positive I don't have some clicking going on in there still.

I got the new coil mounted and the wires connected. I had to lengthen the Tac wire and I had to drill a new hole in above the diode board to pull the new switching wires through. Tomorrow I fit the new spark plug wires and fire it up.

I hope this works.

So I have been told.

It took about 10 minutes to snug and strap everything down and to cut and install the plug wires. I closed my eyes and hit the starter and it fired up in less than a full revolution. The timing was off and I fooled with that for a minute until the idle and the high speed marks were properly in the window. I tightened everything up and went for a test drive and it really is magic. It seems to run better throughout its range.

It is loaded in the truck we are going to Colorado this weekend! Next test will be at 7,000 feet.

PS - the Tachometer works fine.

Just keep on trucking all the way to California. Deposit it here and I will give it a good test this summer. By fall it will be quite a known item. I won't even charge very much.
