I think the red badges where 78 on, only the 77 RS had blue. It's been a long time. :?

This is supposed to be a 78:

Edit: Can't be a 78 with that gearbox.
Red badges look best with red paint though.

Gidday,

I swallowed long n hard when I hit the buy now button last night...

So some tastefully applied gold pinstriping may be needed on the old ''clot'' when it arrives, quill and dagger-liner on standby.

Gidday,

Eden from "Polish n Shine", the local metal polisher couldn't of waltzed thru my signshop doors yesterday at a better time if I'd planned it, he needed a few decals cut out for a car, so I showed him the pix of the old RS thats in the mail and will be here Tuesday... Love a good barter deal :o

So now the exhaust system will be given a good lick'in when I get it to him and he was also eyeing off the carbies and wanted to get his blackened stained hands onto them for a polish?? hhhhmmmmm will wait n see about those!

btw do you see carbies polished?, what about just the tops of the carbies? never really noticed before and I certainly don't want the clot to looks like a blinged up pimps ride..

Do Not Talk to Melville. Just kidding. He had lots of fun--or so it seemed--polishing bits and pieces of his bike. And, I've seen more carb tops polished than entire carbs, FWIW.

Hey!

Tops aren't too tough, and you were going to pull them to check the diaphragms, anyway.

The bit that took the longest was sanding off the casting flash and the raised "BING".

I did one bowl, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Here's a quick link to the carb section Melville's long post restoring his bike.

A decent degrease and scrub with a toothbrush Grant and they'll come up ok.

Too much shine and they'll stick out like the proverbial dogs danglies.

Is the 78 a twin throttle cable from handlebar to carb, or does it use the splitter? If the splitter Grant, I have a couple of your throttle cables still.

Another option, clean them in a ultrasonic cleaner. They will come out looking like new castings.
