Yeah sorry, those are pictures of other bikes with the same tank. Its just a different style tank than the other pictures of R90/6 I've seen. So I was curious the difference between that tank. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I think If I don't buy it I will be kicking myself in the a**. But if I do buy it and it has major engine/transmission issue then I will still be kicking myself in the a**. That's the gamble of buying a $1000 bike I guess.

I own an R90/6 and I am specifically looking for a parts bike. Where is the bike in question? I am not in a hurry and I will make no inquiries beyond this until you have made all your decisions.

Yeah, that's the "Sport" tank. You are apparently more used to the appearance of the larger Touring tank.

The Sport tank is smaller, but quite attractive. It's still pretty good sized. I think it holds 4.5 gallons - same as a toaster and is, in fact, a toaster tank with no chrome toaster panels.

The big tank is 6.3

Hmm---$1K for a non-running, electrically screwed-up bike-in-a-box seems a tad rich; there's barely that in re-marketable parts---I don't think the parts value is as much as ME suggests for a transmission (or much else) of unknown mileage/internal condition. Some pics would help with any assessment. If you have $3K to get it running and reliable, spending $500-750 for it may be reasonable, but you'll still have a bit more into it than it'll fetch on resale.

R90s's can bring ridiculous money so if it's original, numbers matching, $1000 is a no brainer. An R90/6, not so much.

An R90/6 in good running condition will average around $3,500, maybe a little more depending on your market and time of year. A little less if cosmetically flawed or hacked. I mention this because you could easily spend $2,000 to $2,500 to get it up to snuff. But by doing this you would end up with a bike that you brought back to the land of the living, will know how to do most of the work yourself, and will have a blast riding it. For my part, working on airheads like this is very satisfying.
