btw... I found the brake master cylinder today. I was a bit worried that I couldn't find it.. but there it was, attached to the forks.

Now there's a mod I haven't heard of before! ;)

OK, for the pedants... the master cylinder was still attached to the forks by the brake hoses, via the brake calipers. :D

Had a bit of a win today... the eldest son was out the front getting the gokarts going and a neighbour came over for a look. It turns out the neighbour is selling ultrasonic cleaners and he brought his demo unit over to sort out a gunked up carbie. Its done two loads of R90S bits now too. It works a treat. Got some nice clean bits now. He said they have a solution that does wiring and circuit boards etc.... but he hasn't got any demo solution... and it isn't cheap. Bugger.

I built a puller for the driveshaft today too... almost. I still have to fit the drive bolt to it... but it all bolts around the splined flange very nicely. Cost so far... a bit of time, two weld rods and a bit of Argon. I had some old cut-off bits of threaded stainless rod, some spare shackle links that I didn't use when I built a trailer last year... and they were just the right size and pre-drilled. I'll post a photo... if it works.

I just took a look at realoem and there isn't a rear engine bolt... just two short ones. Who'd have thought I'd forget that after just over 30 years?

I can't see if anyone mentioned this, but there IS another longer "bolt" for the engine mounting. I think you are looking at the center stand mount bolts in that fiche. Also, the rear bolt is longer to accomodate the drivers pegs.

Hmmm - it sounds like a serious shuffling of the basement is in order. Damn... there's a lot of gear down in that basement.

Actually I think it does. As you yourself know, the "rules" in your response to the disgruntled newbie really talk to the culture of the forum as opposed to "requirements". It is retaining that culture that is so important to most all of us.

As for moderators, I see them more as Emergency Response guys than policemen. And I certainly don't see them "tweaking" posts into submission.

I had a chat to Ross Gregory today... I'll be right for the engine bolt and centrestand... but the carbies are something I'll have to get from the UK or US by the look of it.

I put half a dozen loads of bits through the ultrasonic cleaner today. That thing is brilliant. The crud just rises off the parts like a cloud of fog.

btw... just agreed to buy a mate's 650 Funduro

Ken, you might want to read what I wrote one more time:

Well, while things are happening with the R90S, I needed something to blow the cobwebs away, and yeah, it isn't quite an airhead, nor a boxer, nor even built by BMW.... but it does have the badge...

Image

I picked it up in Canberra on Wed/Thurs... after a battle with the authorities, its now registered in NSW. Took it to an E34 M5 / 540LE pissup in Sydney on Thursday and pissed a few of them off by quoting performance figures ....

So - while the R90S happens, this one isn't bad... and it handles the dirt really nicely.
