Unfortunately, No. The later clutch requires a 9 tooth (instead of 8 tooth) starter because it uses a different type of flywheel. The later clutch does not work or does not work very well with the early pre 81 transmission. The travel is not far enough on the early clutch linkage and the input shaft is longer. Some on this sight have said that they have made it work, but I haven't heard about that for long time. You can modify the old tranny by shortening or replacing the shaft and changing the rear cover, but this is probably more trouble than it is worth.
Since you are just increasing cc's the old clutch should be able to handle it as long as it is in good working order. The R75 clutch is the same as the pre 1981 R100 clutch.
Ok thanks mate., Just talked to Mechanic, he's going to fit a Brand New R75 Clutch Plate &
a New R100 Clutch Spring, which he says will have more resistance when the lever
is pulled. I trust his judgement, & he said pretty much the same as you. Cheers!

More resistance on your hand and forearm too. You'll have a left arm like Popeye before you know it. Real men ride pre 81 beemers!
Well, after getting my bike back last week complete with the new powerkit
and new clutch plate and spring installed, a friend and I racked up 1500 kms venturing up
to Cooktown then back down to Mareeba before wandering through the Atherton tableland.
The bike performed faultlessly! Really happy with the considerable increase in Torque, acceleration, and overall power.
Re: clutch lever resistance, thankfully it doesn't feel any different than before.
As for our trip, it's well worth the journey to Far North Queensland for some of the best
riding in the country. The scenery is spectacular and very diverse, from tight winding rainforest
mountain ranges to rolling green farmland reminiscent of Southern NSW. Overall the condition
of the road surfaces was great, the highlight for my friend was several runs up and down the
famous Gilles Range.

Sounds like a ride report with pictures would be great! Also sounds like the bike has been reborn!
I did try shooting some footage on my new Vid helmet cam, but had problems with it.
did'nt have anytime to give it proper shakedown testing. Once I have it sorted I'll retrace the trip
and take some Stills and Video and post em up here! It appears the couple of pics I did take are
too large to upload here!
