You do realize that, if this were true, no vacuum gauge in the universe could work accurately unless designed only for one length of tubing.

Really?
How do you figure?

If the tubes are assymetrical, then wouldn't simply swapping sides and assessing the response answer this question in the easiest manner?

Sure, if you can be absolutely certain that nothing else involved changes in the meantime.
The best way I can think of to demonstrate this effect is to put both tubes into a T fitting and pull a vacuum on them with a veterinary syringe. Try making one of the sending tubes much shorter than the other to exaggerate things.
Really, we are talking about a very small effect. You would have to look very closely to see it show up with the measuring tools we are using to balance our carbs.

Exactly! All that really maters is that the mirrors aren't buzzing and your fingers aren't going numb.

This is a very interesting thread. Thanks, twist.
I really liked Rob Valdez' comment about the verb and then Garnet's retort. Excellent!

I balance by ear and don't have a mammometer manometer, so I experimented with a long bong and a short one.
Same vacuum.
Man, it doesn't make any difference.

Correct Jeff - when you're stoned you're stoned, and all bikes sound great.

If this comment is in reponse top my previous post, then no, I don't realise that... in fact I'd really like to know how you get that from what I said.

Again, Major has it right. The only difference is the time delay.
