Was there a photo about relative brush lengths?
Yes Major. It's one of those tricky optical illusions. You have to look at it for some time and concentrate. Sort of scrunch up your eyes a bit, perhaps turning your head from side to side slowly so your peripheral vision comes into play. Suddenly, if all goes well, you will see three different alternator brushes. Took me a while, but I got it eventually.

Very clever illusion.

C'mon Major. A bit of perseverance is in order. Get really close to it. Try putting yerself IN the picture.

ps: Brad, I'm very glad everything worked out well. You deserve some sort of reward now.

Of course it was a compliment - based on the joy of designing something that will make the job easier the next time I do it. So far I have done this job once in 56 years - so, there is some slim chance that I will get to do it again. I won't really come out ahead until the third time, but I am sure you understand the logic.

Of course. It makes perfect sense to me. I just thought I was the only one. So many people wouldn't understand. Now I know there are at least two.

Three.

For many years I've said that any job worth doing is worth making your own special tool.
