Yeah, hair spray is a really old trick for grip installation. Along with lubricating for installation, when it dries, it acts as a glue. The only problem with it is that it washes out with water, so it can turn back into lubricant in the rain. Probably not a problem with those over-the-grip slip-ons, but with grips on metal bars it can be bad.

I bought these and installed them on my R100S the other day:

They don't work so well with the 22mm bars. The grip is too big and spins a bit on the handlebar. I tried to glue it but it didn't work. Next - I'll try to wrap the bar with some tape and re-install the grip by blowing compressed air into it so it will inflate and i can slip it over the tape.

I think you'll find them comfortable when you get them mounted.

They are mounted. Are you referring to mounting them another way so the left grip does not spin? May I ask how you solved that issue?

If you are not fitting under grip heaters then you can use epoxy, or Goop, as long as there isn't too much space. You can also get some grip glue from most dealers in a small tube that works. If you are using heaters, you need to use higher spec heat resistance. Like:

I went on a 2500 mile road trip and I can say that after the first leg of the trip, I knew i needed better grips. The grips are good for small, around town distances. But definitely not good for long distances.
I'm going back to a foam grip. I can also say that the Vintage GT style grips on ebay are good too. I used a pair on a cafe racer that I built for somebody and they had lots of cushion but looked vintage.

Not all the GT style grips on Ebay are any good - some are not rubber but hard plastic and are just horrible, so if it doesnt say soft rubber in the listing stay clear.

I have the 714 Dual sport grips on my F650 and G/S , with CalST grip puppies, as I have problems with dead fingers unless I use something special, and they work well for me.

Bad news that CalST no longer sell the grip puppies as they were better quality than any other similar sleeve I have tried, and glad that I added a few pairs to my last order to fill the flat rate box.
