I just did a chain and sprockets change last week. The original sprockets and chains where on the bike. They lasted 44k kms. I replaced them as the chain had developed a tight spot.

That looks rather interesting. I like the fact that there is no connections to electric or vacuum systems. Let us know how well it works out. I like the Loobman because it is not automatic. You still have to be aware of when the chain needs lube. And they invented the double sided delivery system. Always looking for a better mousetrap!

OK Z, yes I am overthinking this thing, but just a couple of questions...



I see the bottle at the top, and the line running down on the left. But what is all that stuff attached to the outside of the swingarm?

And I take it the outlet "C" is not visible in this picture. I assume you have it close to the bottom run of the chain, or perhaps on either side of the sprocket?

P.S. I guess the best way to run one of these is to get one's wheels powdercoated black so one doesn't have to clean them all the time.

For any chain I ever had -
90 weight gear oil in a little pot with an acid brush.

Brush it on the inside of the chain, run the bike in gear for a minute or two (on the centrestand you don't have), STOP the engine, wipe the chain with a rag.
After the first ride there is a little spray to wipe off, but very little once you learn to not overdue it.
That's it for a few hundred kilometers.
For a trip I would just pack a small plastic oil can or bottle.

Of course with my method you don't get to buy and install a nifty gizmo.

The kit comes with some materials to attach it to the swing arm. I used those materials which included that wire that you can bend to fit. I have covered that wire with shrink tubing because I am still a BMW nerdy guy and do stuff like that. I also covered the tube that comes down from the bottle with shrink tubing as well for the same reason. I put a piece of braided BMW gas line over the tube where it is Zip tied to the swing arm to prevent the tube from getting crushed by the zip ties.

A buddy of mine eliminated all that stuff by drilling and threading a hole on the inside of the swing arm and installed a mount made out of some stainless. Very neat.

Yes the dual oil delivery unit is out of site. The instructions tell you how to place that part of the system. The dual delivery unit uses the thin ends of zip ties to guide the oil onto the sprocket just past the teeth. The end of the zip ties can rub on the sprocket and that is good, but they really don't have to touch to deliver the oil.

I add a little gear oil specially in the summer but it's not really needed. You just want to keep the O rings moist with oil and the chain clean. The oil does that for you. Any new motor oil will do the trick. I use some red colored synthetic that was left over. I think the red looks cool in the bottle....I'm such a shmuck. Used properly there should be very little if any oil on the rear wheel.

Read the instructions several times. Make sure you do not install the delivery unit upside down. It's a fun project. Do keep an eye on the system when first installed just to be sure. I went 2000 miles on one bottle fill and my chain always looked properly lubed.

Want to know a good trick on how to clean wheels really fast. Mr clean magic sponge!!!!!!! Easy peasy!!!!!!
