While I ponder dwire's meaning, you read it literally and responded in kind. Does your real name have the word Scalia in it?
You be the judge man.
I've always wanted to get screwed on a motorcycle seat.

Not sure what either post means - nor am I sure what was/is so cryptic about my post either. Good luck riding any bike without the front wheel assy. installed. Truly guys, I think you must just be reading deeply between the lines that never existed in what I wrote.

As for the mention of "...like the later model SWB seat I got screwed on..." I'll not name the company or individuals I dealt with in the "Motherland" that assured me they were sending me the two grab rail seat with the strap across the middle - not only by description, picture and P/N which at the time was NLA - I felt confident after all that labor in emails, pictures and conformation(s) I'd be seeing the correct seat. My excitement was quashed when the seat that arrived was one I could have picked up anywhere for a 09/71 and up SWB bike - not a bike with a build date of 04/71 (or anything earlier than 09/71 for that matter.)

On a side note to that, I just connected a friend with a early 70 date build R75/5 with an NOS early seat, despite my jealousy over it. Anymore I am focused on finding the positive notions in everything I do, regardless of how they may appear on the surface and can say, having a seat with the wrong cover and rails may be displeasing after all the effort and promises, yet ANYTHING IS BETTER than that crap Dual Queen Fat Butt Corbin junk that was on the bike when I purchased it. Since it stretched my err.. crotch out so far, only one foot could be planted at a stop. Now with the BMW seat, both feet touch the ground properly as BMW intended and IMHO the only safe way to ride - so that is most certainly a WIN.

BTW, I might add with all the seat discussions that have come prior to this, I had/have real difficulty unscrewing the catch bolt far enough from the pan without running out of threads to properly engage the lock on the bike. Is it possible this is another difference in the two (early and later SWB) seats? Everyone made it clear when I asked about trying to turn the current seat into one that appeared to be the proper one, the peanut gallery here said that it was not possible due to a pan change as well. Could said pan change have anything to do with running out of threads on the catch? I'd thank anyone in advance if they had any info regarding any pan changes that might have allowed the catch bolt to reside closer to the lock.

I know now too, I need start a short question thread about tethering my bike for trailer transport too...

As for the Scalia reference - uhm no, but I am not well enough versed in such things to comment on why you might say such a thing. My username is darn near (or "mostly") my real name as could be confirmed by current forum members and other members dating back to the Phorum days... (When I actually had an R75/5 on the road nearly all the time!)

Native might have been referring to the recent revelations about Supreme Court Justice Scalia. Scalia says constitutional questions about gay marriage, abortion, and other difficult topics are easy to answer.

Oh, sorry I've been very busy as of late. I'm going to hold off on hitting that link as obviously the fella is a boob for saying such a thing... Well that is unless you just say, "My way or the highway..." Which I think that would only work well if the Supreme Court was able to have just a single judge/justice preside...

What about the mudgeon knot? It's best done with hemp rope.
That came later...after my (late) brother came back from Nam. ;) & :?

If so, I have bought two seats and a few other sundry items and always had great service from them.

Sorry to say, I've gotten good deals from Ms Meier too, but when I ordered a LWB /5 seat I was sent a /6 seat instead, without any email prior asking if it was OK to substitute another...

Roll of the dice it would seem. They knew darn well what they were supposed to be sending out - confirmed by everything from the proper part number, production date and pictures - as well as the acknowledgement the early dual grab rail seats were listed as NLA - yet they maintained they had the dual grab rail seat there ready to ship to me. I think what really made me feel violated was when inquiring after it finally arrived about it being a mistake, the response was, "Well no, those are NLA." OK.... They were available from YOU when you took my money... lol
