+1 Often, when viewing customized airheads I will use the term 'missiion statement', implying that customs are fine as long as the bike seems to fulfill the builder's idea of some functional niche that he wanted his airhead to fulfill. A successful custom, to my mind, would have all of it's parts creating a cohesive image. For example, an airhead could be set up as an AMA sytle flat tracker, complete with both exhausts exiting on the R/H side of the bike, a bum stop seat (as the British call it), a spool hub, at least on the front, and a number plate where the headlight was and number plates on the sides. But no matter how well the flat tracker image might work, the bike as a whole can't work because in flat tracking the L/H jug would drag into the dirt.

I guess, if such a bike were configured to disturb people with ideas like mine, then it would succeed.

I fully respect what this builder has done. Some of it I do not like. Some I love.
When it comes to custom builds I take the line that its your bike do what you like with it.

I had planned on using a solo saddle.
Then I came across a seat of a 1979 BM that has the hump with the BMW roundel printed on it.
I love the 70s style.
It is on its way to me.
It will be fitted.

I have umm'd and arr'd about putting a fairing on the Ah-8-Tee. The r90/6 seat that arrives tomorrow has started to make the bike look more vintage. So thought I would go even further down that old look theme and get this fairing. Just ordered it from http://www.boxercafe.com/default.htm in the USA.

Ross---I'm not sure that that /7 seat will fit neatly onto a monoshock subframe and frame. The hardware may fit, but the seat may collide with gas tank. The monoshock bikes are sometimes referred to as "small frame" bikes in contrast to the "large-frame" twin shock /7 bikes that preceded them, and that your new-to-you saddle was built for.
