I think you're correct, Steve.

I spoke with this bloke today...texted...and he offered it at $5K if I collect and get the rwc. He's in Myrtleford. ABS2, probably the better system, but the brakes will still work even if it fails. At 15 years old...country use, near the mountains...no panniers. Day to collect...rwc $180, panniers $500 if I can find them... :| :?:
SteveD wrote:2001 R1100S $5.5K, 63K kms. Might be around $5K as the seller would need to take the day off to get a rwc..which I could get easy enough. It's a big day out to go and see.

Dunno Sibbo. I haven't seen them mentioned.

Gidday,

My 1994 K1100 I can turn off and on the ABS11 and over ride it when needed, also the system itself is easy to pull out completely and do away with. I had an issue with the brakes when I got the bike which is why the owner sold it cheap so I just brought another complete ABS unit on Ebay for $150.00, fitted it up and never had any more troubles, the system works fine on this older bike.

I need a day up around Albury.
There's a schmick 1100S just down the street from Jeffs but they want an arm & a leg f'it. $9.3K out the door. "No room to move"...yeah yeah! For a 14 yo bike, no luggage. 34K kms. It is tidy.
There's another near Rutherglen with luggage, history, newish tyres, some rego. $6.5K
Then that gunmetal grey number above...
I have next Wed & Thursday off.
I feel a ride coming on. Hopefully the weather will settle...40C recently.

Just to annoy me, I've started finding articles about shitty splines needing costly replacement.

I'm also considering a 2009 F800ST...48K km, $7K, 12 months rego ($650ish) and luggage. Almost local.

Too many choices, too many complications. None close enough to eyeball except a 2005 R1200ST. It's a tad beyond my budget.

Got one! Bit the bullet...got this for the price of a new 250! <9Kkm, all recalls done, abs maintained...cost a bit higher than I was planning, but I have no discipline! :)

Pickup Ballarat Thursday.
Friday take the R100RS to Yinnar nr Grants place for a rwc, then apply for club membership in Grants local restorers club, then collect some club plates for the bike.
Annual rego cost drops from $636 to $70 plus club membership. That'll be $60 initially, then $80 annual. Insurance on the airhead drops from around $200 to $70. Eventually that'll be about $220 annual costs before use.

Grant & me have already discussed such issues! ;) I lost one recently when my youngster went thru a camera @ 66kms in a 60 zone! L plates on..I wore the $200+ fine & point. 11 left!
Is there such a thing as license insurance? It might be a high premium with these things. :?
One of the guys at work was looking to trade his R1150R and get a new K1300R. He paid twice what I have and they took his bike at a $5K value.

I had organised to come up to Myrtleford tomorrow to see a R1100S. I had to contact the guy to call that off but I haven't heard back. Hopefully he's not sitting around worried that some Gumtree scammer cum thief is on the way to nick his bike?

Oh my good God! Those remaining 11 points do not have a chance.

Precisely the reason I recently knocked back a very nice 695 Ducati Monster, it would have eaten my points in a month.... all it's fault. ;)
