That busted Suggan Buggan Road is on the way Steve?
Roads are cracking up around here too and most of the crops are stuffed.
Them farmers aint never happy.

Gday Geoff, that spot on the King River looks good.
I'm sure if you're quick about it you can drop a brown trout or two, well downstream of course.

It's the Barry Way Mal, only necessary if you're travelling from Jindabyne to Bruthen. You'd more likely loop down thru Omeo & Swifts Creek to Bruthen, then Bairnsdale to Dargo. That is unless you choose the Mt. Hotham to Dargo road again.

The busted road is between Jindabyne and Buchan. You won't need to go that way Mal. Best way for you is probably the way Charlie and mesself will go, from Mitta Mitta to Omeo.
Depends on the snow tho, It may be gone in three weeks and that would allow going over Mt. Hotham.

I was looking to snag a brown trout for supper. From up stream of course.

Edit, I see Steve's posted since I started typing. Pays to pay attention!

Bloody hell it's been wet.
Fwiw the long range raincast isn't too bad for Dargo, but I wonder if the campsite might be a flood zone by then as rain is to continue.
Bonus-tent pegs will be easy to pull!

Any ideas for somewhere drier?
Further North?
Near a pub?

Hmm, dunno guys. It's quite soggy here but next week is forecast to be a lot drier than it has been (no significant rain after Wednesday) and south of the Divide hasn't had as much rain from what I can see. The proposed weekend looks pretty good to me.

Albury: http://www.yr.no/place/Australia/New_So ... /long.html

Omeo: http://www.yr.no/place/Australia/Victor ... /long.html

Dargo: http://www.yr.no/place/Australia/Victor ... /long.html

I'm happy to consider other places but can't think of anything just now apart from Anglers Rest, Geehi, Cabramurra Hut, Henry Angel, etc.

Yes, I too was wondering about the forecasts... been blood damp 'round here, and it'll be continuing, they say, certainly in the short-term - like up to mid next week, at least.
But I'll gladly defer to the judgements of your preferred forecasters, Charlie.
(In saying that I'd rather not spend too much time riding in rain... or camping in it, for that matter.)
Me thinks a fall-back hole-in-the-wall hold-up option would be good to have, if it's particularly bad/wet/cold/snowy etc.
Charlie has identified the most likely camping w/cover options, but I'd be more than happy to camp in a nice warm hotel... suppose if we head to Dargo there may be a spare room or two at the pub... but it is the w/end (and in my experience they ain't cheap).
I stayed at Mirboo North hotel earlier this year: it was OK, and not too much $$$ ($60/room IIRC).
Bloody weather!
Pete

Dargo isn't looking too bad at the moment according to Charlies link. Importantly, the breeze is predicted as almost calm.

Talbingo or Geehi? Talbingo might have alternative roofing close by. Geehi has some structures then there's always Khancoban.
Captain's Flat is close to 900kms...Geehi 500 ish, Talbingo 600 ish.

Pete, when might you be heading out?

Yeah, looking at present forecasts Dargo is looking pretty good late next week, well Friday anyhow.
Steve, I'm still looking at my escape/work options and which way to go ie via NE or Gippsland...
If I travel via the NE I'd like to head up there Friday.
A Gippsland route could b tackled Friday or Saturday.
I'm guessing the expectation is to head to Dargo for Saturday night stopover (at least initially).
I've got the following week off, so will b open to any ongoing travel suggestions. Woo'ee!
