Actually it had a very good sound without being too loud. They looked way cool also. The only reason I replaced them was so that I could put on a Browns side stand as the stock stand sucks big time. AND with the larger ST pipes it was even more of a pain to reach with the foot.

Now the ST on my GB500 is LOUD but there is no such thing as a stock exhaust for one of them. At least not for under a billion dollars. DOH!.

Them Bassanis look neat, and I bet they pump out some serious tone!
I settled on these Babies after a guy on FB posted a Vid for me with a demo of
them on his /5. $AU500 Shipped from Germany.
To me they sound kind of Nortonish, as in Commando,... is that's a word?

They do look flash, and the price seems reasonable. Are they stainless?
A mate has something similar on his Dunstall Norton 850. He gets terribly embarassed when the bolt loosens up and we have to stop to tighten it. His are 30+ years old though.

The quietest mufflers are the stock ones and they are too loud for me. I would prefer electric vehicle quiet.

It is so inconsiderate of motorcycle riders to impose noise on the public.

Of course the amount of noise that a new MC will be allowed to make
is strictly defined by federally mandated noise control standards legislation.
The EPA's (in place 1985) limit for street-legal exhaust noise emissions is 80 dB.

A perspective:
80 dB – the "loudness" of a dial tone.
90-95 dB - sustained exposure may result in hearing loss.
125 dB – Pain begins.
140 dB – Short term exposure can cause permanent damage.
140 dB – Loudest recommended exposure WITH hearing protection.
180 dB – Destroys hearing tissue.
194 dB – As loud as sound can ever be ...

"loud pipes save lives" -
No study on record demonstrates a correlation
between the noise level of a MC and its ability to reduce accidents.
MC exhaust systems produce low frequency sound that is non-directional
and coming from the rear of the MC where the exhaust is located –
Since most two-vehicle accidents come from the front of the MC,
a loud exhaust system does nothing to alert approaching motorists of a MC's presence.

Even the rider of a "quiet" MC will need to learn to use those brakes, eh ?

Being on both sides of this with a BMW and a Harley

on a trip with the Harley I saw a exhaust set on a H.D. Dyna with much less muffler LOUD while threading the traffic in back up Freeway he was in front of me
if cars came close to squeeze he would Rev the RPMS to a loud report which gets the drivers attention... they move to make room to let him pass

I find the act rude


So as I know lots of riders I ask whats your take on the subject I get lots of answers, but then I sometimes hear from a accident level (which I'm really interested) NO matter your still invisible when they hit you

For 9/11
I installed a extra set of Sportster mufflers on my BMW................ the operation and effect was additive and the Motor seemed to like the relief with lesser back pressure my jetting is spot on with a nice tan color in all throttle positions

Wow, did I really post that Vid link on my first attempt!!.., wonders never cease to amaze me!
Rich's Mufflers as you can see are'nt the exact same units I'm buying, but should sound very similar.
From trying to translate description from German my Hoskes are nickel plated then Chromed?,
does that sound right?
My Staintunes will be requisitioned to the wall of my backyard workshop currently under construction.
