Ah, sounding reasonably positive. We all hope for an easy recuperation.
Thanks all for a great weekend. I bet you enjoyed that bath, Doug. I'm happy to be able to kick off the boots, particularly the mysteriously short one ...

I'm home safe too, had a nice run from Charlie's on some old and some new roads, from a dash on the highway to some lovely steep and spectacular new dirt roads. A bit of everything.
Thanks for a great weekend guys, I'm looking forward to the next one.

Thoughts of course are going out to Pete for his recovery. Heal up and I hope there is some good news soon.
Cheers,
Hans.

Glad to hear your journey home was good, and safe, Hans. Your discovery of "lovely steep and spectacular new dirt roads" between here and Melburg is of interest. I look forward to more on that subject.

I'm also keen to hear some news on Pete's situation. Jeff? Steve?

ps: I'm still bumbling about in EssayLand but Jane (BA) has emerged triumphant.

Friend of Pete's wrote:...he was a little worried about his bike, phone and camera.
I promised to follow up on his behalf. He thinks they are being sent down
to Melb
Anyone know? I've forwarded the question to Jeff.

At least he's awake and talking and well enough to worry about his gear. That's a relief to hear.

Any info on where the accident happened?

Thanks Steve. Very glad to hear a positive report.
A bloke named Andy gave us the news at Brindabella. He and another two had just met Pete on the road and were riding not far behind him when it happened. I believe it was in that bushy section just a few kms south of Beechworth.
They found his phone and used it to try to find relatives. They also cleared the bike off the road and found the luggage - top box was about 50 metres away over the rail, etc. Bike and gear were trailered to somebody's place, possibly Mick of Beechworth? Jeff should be able to confirm.

Morning chaps, I've spoken to Petes work colleague and given him info to pass on to Pete.
The accident happened 15 k from Beechworh on the Wang road at the start of the climb.
Pete's bike and gear are secure at wangaratta at the home of one of the guys with Pete at the time of the accident.
Pete is to be moved to another hospital in Richmond on Friday.
Sounds like he is in a fair bit of pain, but he will be ok........

Thanks Jeff...I'm sure that'll help Pete quite a bit. Not knowing about your gear can be very annoying.

Just spoke very briefly to Pete, gonna talk some more shortly when he's finished with the nurses.
It's good to hear his voice.

Spoke to Pete for about 20 minutes.
He said he's doing ok but felt like he'd been in a concrete mixer.
I'll let Pete say more about his condition.
We were talking about where the spring run might be this year.
That's a good sign.

Heal quick Pete.
