Thinking of branching out.

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

He's so good, he doesn't even need anyone to "hold his beer"!

11/2005 K1200R. Forward slant 55 degrees across the frame 4 cylinder. It's got some silly number of hp, almost 3 times the functional hp of the RS. ESA or fingertip suspension setup choice x 3 & an as new set of bags. Two new tyres too!
The 4 recalls have all been attended to. Fuel pump somethin' 'r 'ther, steel insert to final drive, cam chain tensioner replaced and suspension relay replacement.
RWC was today...it needed 2 new tyres @ >$500! The RS tyres are around $300 and probably last twice as long :? Pick up tomorrow arvo, later than I had hoped but no matter.

I was after something newer, but something adrift from the R100RS. I considered the 1100S for ages but then moved to something younger. It was a choice b/w a R1200ST or this. As this had <10Kkms and the ST is really a R100RS in oilhead form (fairing not quite as good and nowhere near as pretty) this one won out.

I hope it is trouble free for a coupla years!

And not allowed to pass the leader.

That's gonna work.
re the NSW Hysterical rego scheme....I now have both my bikes on NSW Historic rego, $55 total a year each, you can participate in all your own club rides plus any other club ride that invites outsiders ie. most of them, ie. rallys, gentleman's rides, German days etc. (I could legally go to a BMW, Triumph or classic rally in any state as a club ride as long as our club secretary logs the ride in his records)

Plus another, (not counting the aforementioned club rides) 60 days doing whatever you like, as long as you fill in your log book. On the club days you don't have to fill in the log book. We have this interpretation in writing from NSW Roads & Maritime whatever dept.

It's bloody brilliant, but only on a two year trial, after then I'll bet they try to stuff it up.

cheers Mal

45 days a year, or 90. You just pay more. Must have your log book filled out. No other restrictions afaik. Easy enough to pay more and increase to 90 days. Modern LEO tech can catch you out if you try too hard to be cheeky with the rules though. http://www.bmwmccvic.org.au/index.php/n ... ts-warning

Looks like you in OZ have a very restrictive system on registration, use and vehicle licensing. From what I have seen it looks expensive with much over sight from LEO.
Not sure if a new thread is in order to explain what system you OZ riders have to work with, (won't be the first time we strayed) but I would like to know more about it. Sounds like a real PIA.
