Stephen, they are 'Staintune' headers and mufflers, made in Oz. They are beautifully made and good for life. They sound nice. Um, what I mean is they sound neither soft nor loud, but just right - at idle and low revs they purr, but there is a touch of the growl when I twist the grip. I am very fortunate that a PO made the investment.

Thanks, growl is what I am looking for. Mind you this isn't bad either (from an 80's BMW promotional CDROM): http://www.stephenbottcher.net/BMW/boxerstart.wav

Would you happen to have a sound file?

Stephen

But the RT is looking the other way...

Good point. They may be merely "acquaintances."

No, don't have a sound file, but I'll see what I can do. Mine would have a decent clunk between first and second gear.

If I might digress (that's what this thread is for, I gather), last week Lady Airbear and I spent a few daze at Airbear Island in the nearby lake. We did a lot of this sort of thing ...

It was very nice. However, on the south shore is a road much favoured by motorcyclists, and that stretch of road is good for 130kmh (maybe more, Jeff?). Many riders take advantage of that and the noise is sometimes very loud. Harleys are the worst, but some Japanese fours are equally offensive. Made me glad that my bike is relatively inoffensive by comparison. I did enjoy hearing a couple of airheads politely motoring past at high speed.

Best pipes on an airhead that I've heard, Staintune straight thru. My brother has them on his RS and they sound neato!
Only $1,800.00 for a complete system.

Ay Charlie, that road be a beauty. Once road a ZZr 1100 along there to Corryong. 'Ken unbelievable. Fastest I've ever been on a bike.
Those poor Ducati's didn't stand a chance.

Spring on Airbear Island looks great Charlie. Looks like you got hold of some rub 'n buff too! She'llbe a new bike almost.

That is a great ride along that road. Wide open sweepers with a few tighter corners to maintain the concentration, a constant lake view and occasional river/bridge crossing, lazing goannas on the road but also the occasional 'roo unfortunately. There's constant rolling hills, the Wymah Punt and even a roadside letter box labelled Woop woop!

I've done it on a R100RS, a guzzi Le Mans and a FJ1200. The Le Mans was perfect, but louder!

That last corner before the Jingellic Bridge apparently catches a few out! I hear some split the difference between the left bridge road and the road to the right! Yeowch!

Staintune "touring" at idle......these ones are matched to Overlander headers.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYGmE05H7SA&feature=plcp
Compare them the Keihen's stock touring version.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeQv-fO0 ... ontext-cha
