He's BACK.... Now with added R80RT

The little details make the whole sum of the bike. That's what today's chop chop was all about.
Relocated the indicators off the headlight ears. That way the fairing I have will now fit.
The bike was getting a bad wobble at around 70km/h. The steering head bearing got a bit of a tighten up. That should help with the wobble.





Fitted some mid 1970s R90/6 handle bar risers to go with the mid 1970s R90/S bars that are fitted. The risers that came with the bike have the bolt heads showing. Yuck. The R90/6 ones are smooth and curvy. Fitted some Col Fosters Signature Series rubber grips. They look old school and cool.



Moved the ignition barrel from were I had it cable tied down under the tank to into the took box that sits under the seat. De-tabbed the frame. Took the sidecover tabs off.

The Old Pacific Highway was always a cracker of a road. I lived in Sydney and used to head up your way a lot, camping at Patonga frequently. The new road had just been built so the old road was basically traffic free. This was when Oz was going metric and the new "km/h" signs were being installed. For instance, the 45 km/h sign in that picture above would have previously shown 30 mph. Of course all the bikes had MPH speedos and it was just so convenient that suddenly all the signs showed proper motorcycle advisory speed signs - give or take for weather, tyre conditions, competence and stupidity level. Now, on a metric bike I have to do the maths (math).

I do not like the old pac on weekends. lots of riders who only ride whenever go up there so they can throw themselves and their bikes at the armco.

Weekdays is the best. Very little traffic.

Yep, we have a section of road like that close to here, the Armco has big magnets in it from the looks of it.

First time on the Ah-8-Tee that I have tried to remove the exhaust nuts so I put anti-seize on the threads.

Used exhaust spanner.



Right nut comes off no probs. Left nut. Even using a hammer on the spanner the nut wont move. Looks like in the future I will be cutting that nut off. Wish whoever did the maintenance on this bike previously had applied anti-size paste to the threads. FARK!

I will try to remove the offending nut when the engine is hot. If not I have been reading up on how to cut the nut off. Use either a Dremel with small cutting wheel or drill 4 holes in a row. Easy by the sounds of it. No great rush to do this just yet.

That's MUCH safer than trying to break a stuck one loose.

Started to lay some colour onto the fairing today. It was going to have silver. Red won. It wont be all red.

I used Rustoluem in a rattle can.

Yay a week day ride. Rode with my bro-in-law Steve and his mate Greg.
Short ride for coffee at Mt White then on a bit further for a pie at pie in the Sky at Cowan. Then a dash home before the storm hits.
