Are we still going to the Blue Duck,I'm coming, probably on Fri, I’ll go down the Princes to Nowa Nowa & up from Bruthen, & across to Corryong on the way back. Will I meet anyone on the way (apart from the Vic constabulary)?
Cheers Mal (the other one)
Well done Mal. When the forum software is sulking about something (like a member misplacing a password) life can become tedious.
If you haven't done the Omeo Highway before you are in for a real treat. Watch out for the crotch rocket boys. Sometimes they are a bit thoughtless about other road users when launching over the edge or into the mountain.
Steve's suggestion about carrying a lump or two of firewood is a good one. Yes, let's make it a 'Bring a Lump' gathering.

Hi Charlie. Looking forward to the trip. Ive done Cann River rd a couple of times, And Tallangatta to home, but never the Omeo section.
I've got a bit of fire wood, (my front fence) getting it from here to there could be a challenge.

I'm going to bring a lump of beer and ice and steak and stuff in my eski.
I'll hunt some firewood when I get there.
Nothin' better than sneakin' up on a log lying on the ground, clubbing it to death and throwing it over my shoulder for the fire.
We will need a 9 litre bucket of water I think for a campfire, by law?
My eski can be the bucket. In the event of an emergency, drink all the ice cold beer in the eski and then fill it with river water.
The number of eski fulls from the river will depend on how many of us drink beer.

G'day
Yep Mal saw the mail, unfortunately I'm at Narrandera just now if I was on the coast we could
ride to the Blue Duck together. I'll most likely go south from here until I cross the Murray then
head east through Woodonga then down through Mitta Mitta etc; I'll be there Fri pm some time
If you can do it,I'm sure the boys will appreciate most of that fence if you can fit it on.
Regards Bob.

Hey is it raining where you are?
Last weekend was clear, Clippo and I had a fantastic ride, perfect weather. Here's the bikes packed and r'aring to go. Look at those magnificent Rhodo's!
After a night of too much red wine and port we left Orange through the back-roads out past Forest Reefs to join the highway near Carcoar

Then it was a good easy run to meet up that arvo with two of Steve's brothers and their ne'er do well mates from Sydney at the Shamrock Hotel in Temora. I do like them KTM motards!
btw We highly recommend this Pub if you are passing through. The Publican is a friendly fella happy to accomodate us all, ensuite rooms for $30 a head.
There was stuff happening in Temora that weekend, drag races at the airport, motorboat races on the lake. A few of the fellas made it out for that but we never made it further than the pub balcony, too busy appreciating the beer and the bullshit and the art deco.
I wish I could say the old bike ran well but it didn't. A bit rough getting to Temora, we work-shopped the problems over a few beers (at least two motorbike mechanics there), we explored the carbs issue, pulled the bowl and jets, found the right hand side spark plug was white as a ghost. It was much worse the next day going home, something breaking down, leads or coils methinks? It didn't leave me stranded but riding 400km on a sputtering gutless bike that sounds like its perpetually running out of fuel is a pain.
And today with all the rain is a not the day for troubleshooting.

Hmm, that has to be bloody irritating, Mal.
It's well known that carburetor problems on BMWs are almost always caused by the ignition. This week I chased a carb problem that turned out to be a carb problem after I went through the ignition system. I pulled the carbs and found that the main jets and associated parts (those other little brass bits) were blocking up with bits of black rubber, from the fuel lines I assume. Along the way I fitted new points and condenser, refurbished the advance unit, timed the ignition - static and strobe - cleaned spark plugs and tidied up some wiring. After discovering the real cause I replaced the fuel lines and fitted in-line filters. So, Brunhilde is happy again. She was seriously 'bogging down' at around 3000 rpm.
That white spark plug is shouting at you. Too much air, not enough fuel. It'll be worth pulling the carbs so you can check everything in there.
ps: A bit of good rain here this morning but pretty disappointing since.

Yep, it sure does shout, but all I can find so far is a blocked pilot jet. Oh well the dog and the cat are enjoying my bemusement under the back verandah.
So I am back to checking the leads and coils, all seems OK with a multimeter. Maybe something is cracking up under load and heat?? I tried reading snowbum but it made my head hurt too much. Might just have to replace new for old until the problem goes away. Thanks for pricing them coils.
cheers

A blocked MJ did that to me once, up near 2valves at Glen Innes. Mine was on one cylinder until I could get somewhere.
If the plug is too white, doesn't that speak to the lean mixture instead of the ignition as it seems to be hot enough causing the white plugs? Is the atomiser clear? Could it be timing has slipped? Inlet valve closed?

G'day Mal
It sounds like a lean mix to turn that plug white for me Mal, I would check that side
carby out, main jet and atomiser as Steve said but also fuel delivery to the bowl, a
bit of shit in the needle and seat is possible, then again maybe the diaphragm but
hope you get it sorted soon.
Regards Bob.
