Hey Mal, the road that runs past the Cabramurra hut (not the correct name) is but one of the jewels of the Great Dividing Range.
Most definitely worth it.
I think the hut is 10-15 k's from Cabramurra, on the Kanchoban road.
I do recall an occasion, where on leaving the 'hut', I had to stop at the road and give way to a passing camel train.
Three camels were traveling at a leisurely pace towards Cabramurra.
Don't worry about the wood Mal, I can see the chainsaw idea taking off.
Camels, no shit.

I know a guy who carries his chain saw up into the woods on a rack on his mountain bike. Carrying one on a motorcycle should be a lot easier.
Seeing the bike photos makes me think you guys pack even heavier than I do for camping tours.

Bandy bandy snakes
and black snakes She'llbe.
Didn't feel the firewood at all. The best pillion I've had, no sudden moves.

That was just the basic kit for an overnighter Ed.

ME109 and Brunhilde at Cabramurra, probably discussing valve clearances or oil viscosity or some such ...
Some people do make the effort to keep up appearances ...
Pete and I had a lovely ride around the mountain on the Sunday. Got a bit cold, and even a bit wet going over Thredbo. We claimed the Geehi Hut around 4pm and settled in. I didn't manage to take any photos there - gotta get a better camera battery. Anyway, we had a pleasant evening - no wind, and a clear sky under an almost full moon - and woke to a perfect sunny morning.
Pete had difficulties with a flat battery again, but his little power pack came to the rescue - very impressive, that gadget.
We packed up, swept the dance floor and hit The Luge down to Khancoban, lunched at the Corryong bakery and cruised down to the lowlands. I made it home about 3pm, I think, and Pete made it back home around 6:30 with no further problems. A great weekend it was. Thanks all. And I'm looking forward to doing the Geehi Hut again in four weeks time.
Mal, well done getting the Friday off for that run. Let's hope the weather is conducive.

It all went downhill from there tho Charlie!
Glad to hear you and Pete made it home ok.
I'm also looking forward to the next 'taking' of the Geehi hut.

Hah, I just saw my photo again.
I was already halfway down the hill.
Yet, still above the snowline. Not sure how that works.
