I've lifted this from BMBikes forum. It's an excellent article on how to loosen stuck lock wafers in the ignition switch. Hopefully no-one will need this info.

But ignore the first reponse- do NOT use WD40 in a lock. It may help short-term but as it is mildly corrosive and can leave residues, it's not good long-term.

WD-40 is great for drilling,taping,machining, aluminum.
It doesn't leave a mess or stain like some other cutting and taping fluids.
If you need lube use Triflow with teflon.
