R100r starter noises

Post by Jummijammi »

Hi
After transmission rebuild i assembled my r100r back to riding condition. Engine started on 2nd try and worked perfectly, but had some problem with tangled throttle cable.
One day later went back fixing it and got throttle to work but suddenly it would not start, just some ugly noise from starter wich sounded like starters gear is worn out.
I have double checked ground, battery and every other possible wiring but still no good.

I will open and inspect starter today and order a new one if its broken. :(
Any other possibilities?

If it’s the Valeo starter, the magnets often become unglued. The updated starter has spring clips in addition to the glue.

Got a look at starter today and yes its valeo and yes its done.
Flywheel had some minor scratches but the gear on starter was clearly broken
.Going to order new one asap.
Thank you
