R65 Front Caliper Seal - Clips Slips off

Hello:

This is my first post. I work on a variety of motorcycles, and am just starting my first BMW refurb.

As such, I just rebuilt the front calipers. Easy-Peasy until I went to install the clips over the piston dust shields. The clips keep sliding off. Am I doing something wrong?

They are very tricky to fit without damaging the rubber. I wonder if there is a special tool to hold the clip open while fitting it.
