There was a post about replacing the original headlight bulb with an LED a while back.
Some thought it might be too hot. So after 4 years I took off the lens to have a look.
This is what I found:

So I found no damage. Light is much much brighter, and volt meter is always steady and happy.

Looks tidy and reasonably unmolested in there.
How do you find the spread of the light with the stock lens? From memory some seem to think it could be better?

Some led bulbs are designed to work in the same way as the H4 they replace.
It's so much brighter that I never really noticed the headlight pattern. When I get back on the road I'll pay more attention and give an update.

I got a Cyclops led replacement for my R100. Installation was easy and much more light. My voltmeter is very happy now, and I'm not worried about running a heated jacket. For me it was a good mod.
I think you want a bulb designated as an H4 replacement. If you have an H4 in your bike.
