Sometimes you need a project to fill the time. This looks like one of those. It did start, however.

He's pressing the starter button while he pulls lawn mower pull-start that's simply fastened to the front cover.
That's why he insisted on 'giving it gas' to start.
Do a frame by frame replay and watch his hand shadow on the ground.

He could have got away with it on a cloudy day! :roll:

Lol. This guy reminds me of my grandpa. A show and some cheap tricks to please the crowd. Loved watching him show off his tractors lol.
