New member (and new airhead owner)

Just wanted to say a quick hello after having recently joined the group. I am a longtime BMW fan, having done a restoration on a very early '68 2002 back in the late 90s and then gone on to own a variety of older BMWs over the years. I recently purchased my first BMW bike, new from the dealer, then quickly realized that new vehicles are never as fun as older ones, so I soon ended up buying my first airhead: an '83 R65 with touring kit. Now to find a reason for ever riding the new bike...

I read it once and wish I knew the author, but somewhere I recall a saying, "there are few things in life as rewarding as riding an old Airhead".

Airheads are great bikes alright but so are the new ones. What is the new bike you bought quietglow?

I love my R1200GS but do miss riding airheads.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Thanks Steve (and everyone else)!

My other bike is a G310GS, which I originally got because I needed a bike to haul on the hitchrack of my campervan, and it turned out the baby GS was light enough to do so. My wife and I run and hike a bunch, and we use the bike as a shuttle (i.e. we park at the end of a stretch of trail, ride the bike back to the start, then hike and/or run back to the van). And yeah, actually the newer bikes definitely have virtues. Here in Chicago, the GS is much better at handling our potholes, for instance.
