Rear Wheel Seal

I'm doing some winter maintenance on my '74 R90s and have just re-packed the rear wheel bearings.

One thing I noticed is that thrust sleeve that slides into the bearing cover is a bit loose. It's never been a real tight fit actually, but after measuring, the seal is 22mm in diameter (as it's supposed to be), but the thrust sleeve measures 21.9mm, so as expected, it's not sealing very well.

The seal appears to be the correct, (label on the back says 36x22x8).

Here's some photos for clarification.

Thanks, RPGR90s

I think you need a new seal.
The indicated ID of any seal is the OD of the part that it is intended to fit around when the lip is compressed.
When new (not compressed or worn) the actual seal ID will be smaller than indicated on it.
I don't have a wheel seal in stock but to illustrate my point here's a brand new seal clearly marked as 28 ID; it actually measures closer to 27.

That sounds logical. Thank you

@gspd

Just wanted to report that I received the new seal and it fits nice and tight, as it should with the correct thrust sleeve installed the way it's supposed to be.

Thanks for your help.
