Hello all, I purchased a beautiful set of Sigma hard bags (made in England) on Ebay. Posting stated they came off an early R100, so I assumed they matched up with the standard Krauser mounts. Would make sense because the mounting interface looks identical..ish.
I talked with another guy on Ebay who was listing Krauser mounts, but the inside dimensions were a bit larger than my Sigma bag protrusions. In addition, it looks as if these Sigma bags are locked/latched to the mounts using a different method.
Sigma protrusion dimensions: 12" x 6-3/4' (or 305mm x 171mm)
Looking to find out if there were/are Sigma bag mounts or adapters for the Krauser mounts, so I can use them on my 1976 R75/6.

Any experts out there willing to dispense their knowledge?

You could try Sigma in the UK but having looked on the site I cannot see any luggage racks, link below good luck as they look really nice.

From the dates and the company logo, I don't think this is the same business. There are a few instances of Sigma panniers coming up on ebay and the like but no sign of current stockists or manufacturer so I suspect Sigma have gone the way of the world.

Difficult to tell if these panniers would fit the Krauser type mounts but they look similar... the only way to tell would be to offer them up, it might be an idea to see if anyone in your area has a set of Krause racks to give it a try.

Clearly, the attachment locks aren't the same but it wouldn't be difficult to fabricate an attachment set or you could also probably fit the 'claw' type latches used on the early touring panniers.

Very true Rob as iv'e been out of the UK for over 30 years last time I was back I got a shock when I found all the old Motorcycle shops in Liverpool gone without a trace.

Thanks for the responses. Regarding the "claw" type latches, could you share some pics or part numbers? I've seen plenty of styles online and I'm not sure if the latches attach to the bags, or the frames.

Regardless of the latching system you choose, have a hardcore backup.
I learned this the hard way when I lost a saddlebag en route three thousand miles from home.
Never noticed it falling off, but in hindsight, I did at some point feel a surge in power from dropping the ballast.
What a nightmare that was, retraced my route for two days with no luck.
It was the bag with all my girlfriends' stuff, so as you can imagine, the rest of the trip was a bit tense.
I never found out if the latch broke or if I inadvertently left it unlocked and it popped open on a bump.

This is my present day solution, a steel cord with guitar strap fittings connecting both lids together.

pn 46 54 2 300 008 CASE SUSPENSION CATCH
Case suspension catch, R50/5 - R100GS. This latch holds the bag to the side case holder. When ordering this PN, it comes with a new set of keys. The latch/key number that is received will be random. The key and latch number that is received will be random. Keys for these latches are no longer available.

If you buy a pair, you'll likely get two different keys. The locks come with keys. However, if you lose the keys, they're only available if someone has spares.

The later panniers have similar but different locks that look sturdier. I've never used those so can't help with better knowledge. No key barrels in these pictures.

Case suspension catch, R50/5 - R100GS. Clamps to the backside of the case mounts.

The later Krauser version has very good looking locks. I've never tried to buy those separately though.

While the later (key co-ordinated) latches look similar fitting to the earlier claw latches, they aren't a direct replacement and there would need to be a considerable amount of surgery to get them to fit. I have looked at it for one of my sets of panniers.

That's a shame. They look like a decent improvement.
