Hello all, just found out this is now where the action is - I was a member of the old forum.

I have a question regarding Monolever gear levers - my wife has an R80 roadster which I am allowed to ride (!) but after a rather nasty walking accident my left foot is a bit of a mess, screws, wires, all that malarkey, Yes it hurt. A lot.

Given said injury I find the upward pressure on my foot to change gear up very uncomfortable, and it's not going to get any better, after two rounds of surgery, so a heel and toe change is how I have been able to ride another bike (One of those Enfield 350's you see everywhere now) but looking at where the centrestand foot on the Mono comes, the route to an adaption isn't obvious. So I'm casting around for any ideas, inspiration or experience anyone may have on the subject.

I do suspect this to be a dead end, but there some great minds and experience on here, so you never know! I'd like to ride Otto again, we've spent a lot on him over the years and he's a keeper. If anyone reads Real Classic he featured a couple of years ago.

If the centerstand foot is your only hinderance to adding a heel-toe setup, maybe you could alter* it a bit?
As long as it doesn't scrape in corners and holds the bike up securely, why not?

* smash, bend, hammer, torch, grind, etc.

Welcome back, Neil. I know someone on the old IKBA site has made a heel and toe but on a Rocket 3 I think. I'm sure it can be done with enough thought and experimentation.

Electric solenoid on the shifter with push button(s) on the throttle grip

A Heel/Toe shifter was an option on airheads fitted with the Kinematic gear shift up to 1980. tdirect from BMW. I think, with a bit of modification, it could be fitted on models up to 1984. I don't know whether it could be adapted to dit on a 'Mono' bike.

Thanks - I gave this a coat of looking at, and moving out the foot of the stand gets me nowhere, although it would allow me to get something in there, the height of the end of the curved bit would prevent the heel part being depressed - and cutting it off is a no-go as that's the bit we put our (other!) foot on to put the bike on the stand in that BMW way. Some further thought is being given to this, unfortunately removing the mainstand isn't an option - Mrs NHN insists and it is her bike!

Thanks Rob, I had been made aware of this by a retired police motorcyclist here that I know (Isle of Man) but had a chat with one of the used parts specialists and it is a no goer on a Mono again.

I suspect that bar a complete rework of the whole footpeg/gear lever/stand situation this is a non-starter, but thank you all for your thoughts.
