Center Stand Question

The bike a 1988 R100 RT.

The center stand is not retracting when the bike is taken off the center stand. Rather, it's hanging up at the 45-degree point. I replaced the bushings, since the old ones looked a little worn, but that didn't help. The holes in the center stand for the bushings didn't seem out of round to the eye. Could my springs be weak, or am I missing something here?

I've always assumed that they are supposed to do that and find it a useful feature when deploying the stand. A flick with your foot will retract it all the way.

Having just renovated my cs, it's similar. If it can be bumped up, I'd be happy with it. As long as it doesn't stay sagged down.
