Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Does it make sense?
Bike ran fine when I brought it in for winter.
Valve adjustment is correct and unchanged.
I had my carbs apart for o-rings, needles/needle-jets, and float needles.
Cleaned out all passages in the bodies and checked float height.
Ran my bike in the shop for 5-10 minutes. Noticed the left exhaust start to glow red and it sounded funny.
Took that carb apart again and, can't say for sure, but suspect (not sure) the idle/slow jet was restricted, if not clogged.
Cleaned with cleaner and compressed air (couldn't find a wire small enough to pass through it).
Tried it again but only for about 2-3 minutes. It sounded normal, and when shut off both sides seemed roughly the same temperature.
Is overheating a symptom of a blocked idle jet?
(P.S. Don't think there were any air leaks.)

One glowing red pipe is also a symptom of WAY to much fuel. If it was real lean, the pipe would only dis-colour with a load on it. Did you go for a ride?
Where the enriching (choke) discs put in the right way up?
A blocked idle jet would mean that it would not idle on that cylinder.

I will check the choke discs, but they were not removed from their part of the carb. I just took the whole unit off to replace the gasket.
Loctite fumes !?!?! Wiseguy!

The choke discs will be fine if there was no problem before.......
Edit: I asume you rechecked all the O rings to makes sure none are cut or got missed. An O ring would have to be missing to suck up enough fuel to get that hot. Don't ask how I know.

I will give it a good warm up tomorrow.

I had the flywheel on with the old bolts just snug. Wanted to see there were no leaks before I spent the new bolts.
