I thought I would share my latest project. I am replacing the frame on a friends 1971 R75/5....with a list of fixes along the way (some expected, some not):

This is the same bike on which I rebuilt the transmission last year (busted gears).

This bike has come a long way and is turning into quite a nice ride. Years of ham fisted repairs are being addressed and made right.

Once this is done, I am going back to installing my new top end (later this week).

A touring rider crashed and bent the frame on his way to Yosemite in 74. The local dealer, in Merced, called us after discovering that B & S didn't have a frame in stock. By pure chance we had one. He brought the machine over for us to start swapping it out as we opened the doors the next morning. I put two mechanics on it and 5 1/2 hours later the frame was changed. One was Bryan, the genius and fastest mechanic that I had ever seen.

Sorry I am not in your area more often. I would love to help on that one. At least you have a good "sample" in case you forget something. Besides, I know that you took a thousand photos first.

That is a fun story. From what you have described, Bryan must have been quite an extraordinary person. I would have loved to have met him.

That is probably the number of hours that I have into it.

I just take photos of the wiring hook ups, as I pretty much know the slash five by heart now. It is always a pleasure for me to work on one.

Hopefully we can see each other soon and catch up.
