Hey Guys,
I have a buildup thread going on over on the ADV site in Old School. I'm not going to post it all over here, but would like to know about some recommendations I can do. My riding is touring, gravel roads, and stuff like that. Very few is any ATV trails of log crossings.
Basically I'm doing this
-R100GS front and subframe
-Omega 450w charge system
New clutch, spline lube and general freshening.
Let me know
Adam

Well, I'd be interested in following your project build.
How's about making this too easy with a link to the thread on Old's Cool ?
Raven's sorta, considering will probably do R80g/s daily rider restoration
(birds of a feather hang together, eh ?)

Well, I didn't want to drag folks from here too easily. It's always good to get some fresh perspectives. I also have a cut paste of the buildup on a couple international forums too. Once you get past the language barrier, It's amazing the suggestions...circuit breakers instead of fuses...who would have thunk it?

Hay Raven, have you seen Stephen Boettcher's g/s builds? They're probably more extensive than what you're planning, but ideas abound.

SteveD, he knows. We spoke and he read! I even offered to sell mine to spare him all the trouble but my price tag and his budget were incompatible! I think he knows but does he really? Hi Adam

What's the difference between the G/S fork and the GS fork? I looked at the ADV link and didn't know that lingo.

Thanks Stephen, can you enlighten me on why one has a slash and one doesn't? Also, are they said differently?

I'll hit this one;
The G/S is the oil filled monolever that is bulletproof
The GS is dry, called the paralever with about a 40-50k life span drive shaft
They are said differently, the "slash" is quite important. Leaving it out is an insult as it's considered by many to be a major benefit over the GSes failure prone shaft. The best however is how Stephen did his up...all the benefits of the 100 and 80
I'm trying to do something similar, but keeping the 800cc engine as I have no desire to go fast......I come from riding KLRs and buzzy 70s hondas
Hey Stephen; You know, in a year if you are still around I may take you up on the KLR plus cash trade offer. My wife wants a bike like mine for practical reasons and I'm not going to sort another one out...ugh. Plan is to let her take mine, and I'll find another well sorted model....like yours
