1975 r/6 final drive I,m told that I,m in need of a final drive. seems the splines are half gone. I had thought I saw a sight that reworks the splines . For the life of me I cannot find it. Am I having a senior moment or anyone know of such a site? Anyone got a good final drive for sale? Frank

That ,s it by George! Thanks I,m thinking I,ll be looking for a used unit. Had forgotten how pricey they where. Not bad as compared to new, but a little rich for me. Thanks again Frank in Florida

Hansens does a great job. Most dealers use them. They have been doing it for a long time.

I see there are different gear ratios. what is the diferance between a 37/11 and a 37/9 is one lower geared so you would be turning higher rpm at a given mph.
if so which is which Thanks Frank

Think of it this way... take the 32/11 FD which is 32 divided by 11 which is 2.91. This drive gives you poor off-the-line performance, turns lowerer RPMs for a given speed, and has quite a bit of top end range...unless the engine runs out of ooomph.

On the other end of the scale is the 37/11 FD which is 37 divided by 11 which is 3.56. This drives gives pretty zippy performance down low, has higher revs for a given speed, and likely will not get you top speed on the bike.

Never heard of a 37/9, but a 37/11 is the 3.56 while the 37/9 is a 4.11. That's the way I think of it.

32/10 was the standard drive for R75/5 and /6s and they went to 37/11 for the /7.

I just replaced the 32/10 on my /5 with a 37/11 and find it nicer for the riding I do with that bike (city comuteing and back roads). If I where to go on a trip I would switch back to the 32/10 for fuel economy.

The 32/10 is a great rear end to have on an R90 but for an R75? Not unless you're running on the highway a lot.

If you're thinking about changing gear ratios, you'll probably find that the cost of having your worn drive splines replaced, is pretty much the same as buying a different rear drive with good splines, so think this one through!
