The rear shocks on my R75 have virtually had it. I believe their the original set,
would they be Koni s ? Anyway, I'm undecided whether to have them rebuilt,
or go for a completely new set of whatever. Any advise would be appreciated.
Munich Motorcycles are selling YSS, are these a good shock ?,

Jeff, ring Ikon in Albury and ask if they have any '2nd's'
I bought a pair at a reduced price because of excessive chrome in the area of the part number.
Excellent shocks.

FWIW, if your bike is fitted with Konis, they're not original... originals would have been Boge.

If they are Konis, they can be rebuilt... very simple job. Seals and parts can be obtained from Ikon or your local Ikon importer.

For thoswe who don't already know, when Koni gave up doing bike shocks, the tooling and rights were bought up by Ikon (the name is no coincidence). Early Ikons are identical to Konis apart from the name so Ikon parts will fit Koni shocks.

I rebuilt a pair of 'Dial-a-rides' a few months ago. Even having the bodies re-plated and the springs coated, the result was considerably cheaper then new.

You might want to take a look at Hagon shocks. Dave Quinn will put together a spring package that matches your weight -ya gotta tell the truth- and riding style. I have a pair on my 1981 R65 and they perform up to my skill level.

part# 33 53 1 231 894B--$10.00--rebuild kit Ikon shock: one seal two O-rings (that's for one shock).
Ikon charges over $50.00 for a few o-rings. If you have Koni's they are far superior to the weak Boges the bike originally came with. Ther's a link somewhere on how to do it (with pictures even).

go for a new set of Ikons.

I have a set of OEM shocks that were removed from a 76/7 bike with 50,000 km on it.

They look perfect , no wear on the shafts or oil leaks.

Want to make me an offer? I have someone interested but he want them cheap----.

Do you know I'm in Australia Roy. How much are you asking for them? Does that mean
their Boges, or are OEM aftermarket?

To be frank, the original rear shocks weren't great from new and usually got replaced fairly early on in the life of the bike,
I would think twice about buying SH 30 year old Boge shocks thatcannot be rebuilt. If you are looking for the period look,Ikons can be fittedwith stainless replicas of the alloy top cover. This looks nice and is what I will be fitting to my R90/6. (note shrouds for Ikons arespecially specified as thehole in the top is a larger diameter).
