Balance marks on post 81 clutch

The block is stripped, the 336 cam is installed, new timing sprockets and chain in place, Siebenrock 1000 cc Nikasils and pistons coming up. Dual plugging in progress.
I'm switching to a post 81 clutch and tranny. I'm installing a good used clutch. There are factory white paint marks that look like they correspond to the heavy points on the "fly wheel" gear, inner pressure plate, and outer cover plate. I know this has been covered before....but...does anyone know how these paint marks should be arranged to obtain the factory balance?

According to my Haynes manual -
Cover plate, pressure plate, flywheel, 120 degrees apart.

I just bought new clutch parts for my /7. No paint marks. I guess they're coming from the factory perfectly balanced!!

Yeah, I know! But I've got nothing to go on, so I won't worry about the balance...or lack thereof.

You've been here a while Kurt, you know we are all a little unbalanced.

That makes since, but it's impossible to do. The paint marks won't match up in that order. I'll just have to try and get it as close as I can.

as per BMW school ..if no marks...put it together. On a side note has anyone ever used the disk with the "oversized"(or would that be undersized) splines?

Put a blindfold on and go for it. If you're lucky, an unbalanced clutch may just cancel out all the other airhead vibrations. ;)
