Re: 1974 R90S in Oz
It looks like a nice bike, there are so many parts that aren't 74, I wonder if the year is a typo.

Supposed to be a goer.
Reads as if has been imported.
I think you wouldn't get much change
out of $10K by the time you refurbished it
cosmeticaly and mechanically. And many
hours of work. You can see the weathering
on the paintwork and black plastics.
Unclviny only paid $5K for a really nice Toaster.
What is a similar condition R90S worth in the
US of A ??
This bike has been advertised on this site for
over twelve months.
I sent them an email at the time mentioning
missing side cover requesting an engine number
and asking if that was there best price.
I am still awaiting a reply.

Re: 1974 R90S in Oz
Seems to lack the alloy indicators and mirrors from a 74, can't quite work out if the seat cover is correct. BMW speedos go back to 0 after 100,000 ks

Although the speedo is correct for a '74 most of the rest is not. Seat's wrong, switchgear and levers are later , no kickstart and drilled front disks. Although it does have the angled throttle cable guides on the carbs which was '74 only...chasbmw wrote:Seems to lack the alloy indicators and mirrors from a 74, can't quite work out if the seat cover is correct. Could be a genuine bike built late in '74 which would make it a '75 model year.

If it was a complete and genuine bike it would be cheap, but it aint, so it aint.
But if you were prpared to spend $4/5,000- it might be a cheap way into a 90S - nice examples are fetching $15/17,000-

I'm not sure what the aussi dollars is worth but it is very easy to drop £5-6K into a rebuild.
My r90/6 project has been subject to 'scope creep' and I'm at the stage where I don't really want to do the adding up, but this is partying due to me farming out the difficult bits to people who have the skills and the tools!
