Grease from Rear Drive Drain Hole
Posted: Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:21 pm
I rebuilt my rear drive over the winter.
did a few shorter rides, 20 miles the longest. No issues.
Yesterday I rode 200 miles and after arriving home noticed (at the drain hole next to the drain plug) what looks like grease.
It felt like grease, and smelled like grease. Not gear oil.
I would think, hope, I've just over greased the wheel bearings (using the speical grease tool).
Is this where the grease would find it's way out. There was also a small amount on the other side of the wheel.
I was thinking of just pulling the wheel and cleaing up any other grease, just to try to keep it from the brake shoes.
Just double checking that this isn't caused by some other known malady.
Thanks
