R90/6 project creep

Post by chasbmw »

I am currently in the midst of a R90/6 rebuild project. I bought the bike off ebay and it has been sitting around for a few years whilst I got the energy to do something about it.

lots of project creep, cracked passenger footrest supports ended up with a full frame powdercoat, andwhen I removed the rear wheel the splines on the final drive were badly worn, so it ended up with a full final drive rebuild by Steve Sciminger, some photos:

Did you replace the splines in the hub as well or just swapped wheels?

The reason I ask is: I'd like to replace the shallow splines on my /5 with the deeper ones from a /6 and am wondering how I'm going to rivet the new splines in place.

I think I recall seeing the rivets in Hucky's. You will be in Peen heaven!
